Once upon a time, in the heart of the African savannah, a terrible drought had dried up the rivers and waterholes. The sun blazed fiercely across the land, leaving the animals parched and desperate for relief. Among them lived Kiboko, a cunning crocodile known for his deceitful ways and wicked nature.
With the drought bringing suffering to everyone, Kiboko saw an opportunity to take advantage of the situation. He had always enjoyed watching others struggle, but now he saw a chance to manipulate the animals and gain power over them.
One day, Kiboko slithered to a waterhole where the animals gathered. They were all tired and thirsty, looking for any sign of hope. Kiboko, with a sly smile, spoke to them in a smooth, fake voice, "Dear friends, I know of a hidden oasis deep in the jungle, a place filled with water and relief. Follow me, and your suffering will end."
The animals, desperate for any sign of hope, listened closely. They saw Kiboko as their savior, someone who could end their misery. What they didn’t know was that Kiboko had no intention of leading them to an oasis. He only wanted to deceive them for his own benefit.
One by one, the animals began to follow Kiboko into the jungle, trusting him to show them the way. The path was treacherous, filled with thorns and hidden dangers, but Kiboko, being a crocodile, had no trouble navigating the rough terrain. The others struggled to keep up, their strength fading as the journey grew harder.
Days passed, and still, there was no sign of the promised oasis. The animals grew tired and hungry, and their trust in Kiboko began to fade. Their hopes for water turned into frustration, and they started to realize that they had been misled. Kiboko had betrayed them.
Just when things seemed hopeless, a wise elephant named Tembo appeared. He had been watching the situation unfold from a distance, waiting for the right moment to intervene. Tembo was known for his great wisdom and kindness, and he understood the danger that Kiboko's deceit posed to the animals.
With a strong voice, Tembo called out to the animals, "My friends, we have been led astray. The crocodile has deceived us, but we must not lose hope. Together, we can find our way back to safety."
Inspired by Tembo’s words, the animals gathered their strength and began to retrace their steps. With Tembo guiding them, they slowly made their way back, step by step, toward familiar ground.
Meanwhile, Kiboko realized that his plan was failing. As the animals turned back, he tried to flee, hoping to escape into the jungle. But the animals, fueled by their anger and a desire for justice, chased after him. They cornered him near the very waterhole where their journey had started.
Tembo stepped forward, his voice firm and clear, "Kiboko, your deceit has caused great suffering. We will not tolerate your wicked ways any longer."
Kiboko trembled before the animals. For the first time, he felt the weight of his actions. He understood that his selfishness had hurt not only the animals, but also himself.
The animals, with Tembo leading them, decided that Kiboko would no longer be allowed to remain with them. They banished him from the savannah, a warning to all that deceit and selfishness would never be tolerated.
From that day on, the animals of the savannah learned the value of unity, wisdom, and trust. They understood the importance of working together and not falling prey to deception. And whenever they faced challenges, they remembered the wisdom of Tembo, the elephant who had shown them the true power of standing together and the consequences of wickedness.
