You aren't a bonafide Nigerian if you do not know what Crayfish is. Crayfish is one of the staple Nigerian spices. Nigerians would even sometimes incorporate ground crayfish into the first solid foods of their babies because of the high level of nutrients it contains. Crayfish can be added to virtually all Nigerian meals. Rice, beans, eggs, stew- just name it.
The truth is that steamed foods are alien to the African or Nigerian culture. I sat down to think about at least ten foods that Nigerians steam but I could only come up with Moinmoin and Ekuru and some veggies (and that’d be for babies though). What would Nigerians want to steam actually? Pounded yam or Jollof beans? Fried Rice?
